How Do You Find Your Referral Partners?

In my experience, many people struggle to find the right referral partners for their target market. Even committed networkers can find this a frustrating and time consuming exercise. So I thought "how can I reduce the time taken by my clients to meet the right people and take the frustration out of the process?" It was blindingly obvious ...

Bring together a whole host of people who share a common target market. This will give them a forum to get to know each other and build those all important relationships. Then through the knowledge gained from our Referral Success 101™ workshop they will share a proven system of turning those relationships into high quality referrals.

I call it a LINK and LEARN event. The first one is due on the 1st August and will bring together business people who share a common target market of Logistics firms. It's been a fascinating exercise so far.

Why choose logistics? Simple, Charlotte Sykes of Sykes and Co is one of my clients. She has been experiencing that frustration in building her referral network for her recruitment business and Logistics is her target market. Also I have great network partners who either run logistics companies or supply them. And, of course, Northamptonshire is part of the M1 corridor where many logistics firms are based.

So who supplies Logistics firms? I did a mini brainstorm to identify the range of companies that support Logistics companies. Very quickly, I came to a list of 50 types of businesses, all supporting Logistics in some form or another. And I suspect I haven't captured them all.

To implement a successful referral marketing plan, each person only needs about 8 strong referral relationships and then a broader network of contacts to support this. So from this wide range of businesses there should be lots of choice for everyone.

How will the Referral Success 101™ workshop generate referrals? It consists of two hours of great information on how to develop a systematic method to inspire others to refer to you. I know from my clients that the more people share a common approach to Referral Marketing the quicker and easier it is to generate referrals. They seem to pop out of the woodwork!

Can my referral partners help me recruit? You bet they can! I'm so lucky to have a group of marvelous people around me all willing to promote the event. In particular, Ted Maley of Ted Maley Logistics and John Henderson from Solstor who are the local regional coordinators for the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).

This will widen the scope of people attending the event and guarantee new productive relationships for everyone. In response I am offering a discount for the event to members of the CILT. So lots of scope for everyone to make new productive relationships this summer.
